A group of campaigners have finally succeeded in a seven year battle to save Queen’s Market in Newham, an area often classed as one of the most ethnically diverse in Europe. The plans of property company St Modwen were scuppered by the campaigners, with some viewing the victory as symbolic of the plight faced by many market areas across the country.
